High-repetition-rate, intracavity-pumped KTP OPO at
1572 nm
Zendzian W et. al. , APPLIED PHYSICS B-LASERS AND OPTICS, Vol.80, 329
(2005)
An efficient, eye-safe, high-repetition-rate, intracavity
optical parametric oscillator (IOPO) inside an acousto-optically Q-switched
Nd:YVO4 laser end pumped by a 30-W fiber-coupled diode laser was
demonstrated. The pumping, acousto-optically Q-switched Nd:YVO4 laser gives
3-W average output power at 1064-nm wavelength at 40-kHz repetition rate. An
additional separating mirror, 'x-cut' KTP crystal and output coupler highly
reflective at 1064-nm and partially transparent at 1572-nm wavelengths form
a flat-flat IOPO resonator of 35-mm length. We have achieved 3-ns-duration
pulses for 20-mm-long KTP and 4-ns-duration pulses for 30-mm-long KTP,
respectively. More than 8-kW-peak-power pulses with an average power of 1.5
W at the signal wavelength for 40-kHz repetition rate were demonstrated. Due
to the intracavity spatial cleaning effect, a near diffraction limited
signal beam was achieved despite a relatively worse beam quality of the
pumping beam. Conversion efficiencies of 50% with respect to Q-switched
output at 1064-nm wavelength and 11 % with respect to diode pump power were
achieved.
High-average-power
femtosecond pulse generation in the blue by use of BiBO
M. Ghotbi et al, OPTICS LETTERS, Vol. 29, No. 21,
2530(2004)
Efficient generation of
tunable femtosecond pulses in the blue is reported in the nonlinear crystal
BiBO. By use of fundamental pulses from a mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser at
76 MHz, single-pass second-harmonic average powers of as much as 830 mW have
been generated at 50% conversion efficiency, and a tunable range of 375–435
nm in the blue is demonstrated. Temporal measurements result in blue pulse
durations of 220 fs for 130-fs fundamental pulses. Direct experimental
comparison with more widely used BBO crystal confirms the superior
performance BiBO for second-harmonic generation of femtosecond pulses.
Long-term operation of
CsLiB6O10 at elevated crystal temperature
Y. K. Yap et al.,
Optics Letters, Volume 23, Issue 1, 34-36(1998)
They resolved the degradation problem
of CLBO by means of elevated crystal temperature. CLBO crystals were
continuously operated at 160C in ordinary room humidity. No degradation of
performance was observed after more than 1 month.
Sub-5 fs pulse generation from a noncollinear optical
parametric amplifier
T. Kobayashi et al., Meas. Sci. Technol. 13,
1671(2002)
The noncollinear optical parametric amplifier (NOPA) is
one of the most useful light sources at an extremely short timescale. With a
BBO crystal, transform-limited visible pulses with as short as sub-5 fs
duration have been generated for the first time ...
Frequency doubling property of the low symmetric
nonlinear optical crystal BIBO
Z. Wang et al., ACTA PHYSICA SINICA , 52 (9): 2176-2184 SEP 2003
The refractive index of BIBO was measured. A systematic
research was performed on the frequency-doubling property of the BIBO
crystal. The largest effective nonlinear optical coefficient was found in
the Type- I phase-matching direction ( 168.9 degrees, 90 degrees).

High-power intracavity frequency doubling

T. Andersen, APPLIED PHYSICS, B76, 639(2003)
The cavity is extended with a pair of
focusing mirrors and a 0.5-mm-thick BBO crystal. They achieve a repetition
rate of 50 MHz and simultaneously generate 22 mW of 55-fs pulses at 810 nm
and 200 mW of 73-fs pulses at 405 nm...
