Silver Gallium Selenite (AgGaSe2, AGSE) crystal is of special interest for the middle and deep infrared (IR) applications due to its large nonlinear optical  coefficients and high transmission in the IR region.  Its IR cutoff wavelength of ~ 18 µm is much longer than that of the closely related crystal Silver Gallium Sulfide (AgGaS2, AGS) crystal. The phase matching and non-linear optical properties of AgGaSe2 allow OPO/OPA's pumped with lasers at 1400-2100 nm (e.g. Ho:YLF laser at 2050 nm ) and different frequency generation (DFG) to generate tunable middle or deep infrared wavelengths.
